Dates & Deadlines

Will Coe be extending its enrollment deadline?
Given the global impact of COVID-19, we realize you and your family may be experiencing personal hardships. You are in our thoughts at Coe College. If you need more time to make your college decision, simply let your admission counselor know, and we will honor that request.

If I am coming to Coe in the fall, when can I register for fall courses?
New students have four options to register for Fall 2020 courses.

  • Tuesday, May 26 during a virtual registration event
  • Saturday, June 20, during New-Student Registration at Coe
  • Monday, July 20, during New-Student Registration at Coe
  • Monday, August 17, or Tuesday, August 18, during New-Student Orientation

Can I still visit Coe before I make my decision?

Grades, Transcripts, SAT/ACT Tests

I can’t access my official transcript because my school is closed. Will Coe accept an unofficial transcript?
For admission consideration for fall 2020, we will accept your unofficial transcript in lieu of your official transcript for both first-year and transfer students. First-year students will be required to submit an official final high school transcript prior to starting classes as a Coe student, and transfer students will be required to submit official transcripts of all undergraduate institutions attended. First-year students should be able to locate their unofficial transcript via their school's online portal. My high school will be providing pass/no pass grades for core academic courses. Will these satisfy the course requirement for admission?
A pass grade will satisfy our core requirements for admission eligibility. We will not be including these grades into our cumulative academic GPA calculations for admission and scholarship eligibility. Certification of graduation will be required for all students enrolling at Coe. 

My previously scheduled SAT/ACT test was canceled. Will Coe waive my SAT or ACT requirement?
Under Coe’s test-optional policy, ACT/SAT scores are not required for students applying for admission. The test-optional policy gives select students the option to decide if their standardized test scores (ACT/SAT) will be considered in the application review process. Students applying under the test optional policy will still be considered for a Trustee Scholarship valued at $20,000 per year. Only students applying as first-year applicants with a 3.0 GPA or higher may choose to exclude their test score from the application process.

Financial Aid & Tuition

My financial situation has changed as a result of COVID-19. Can I be reconsidered for additional aid?
If you’ve been admitted and your financial situation has changed, you can file a financial aid appeal due to a reduction in income, changes in health or other extenuating circumstances. Please contact the Office of Student Financial Services to talk about options for your unique situation at

When will I receive my first bill?
Your Coe College billing statement will be available in mid-July on My Coe ( in the “My Student Accounts Information” section under the Student tab. You will receive an email at your Coe account when your statement is available. Go to the CASHNet link to view your bill and make payments. You can sign your parent/guardian up for the “Parent Portal” by clicking on “Grant Parent Permissions” from the student menu on My Coe. The Parent Portal will allow a parent and/or guardian to see your billing statement and make payments.

What are my payment options, and when is the first payment due?
Payment may be made to the college by term, or students can sign up for the monthly payment plan from the CASHNet Portal. The fall term payment is due on August 1, 2020. International Students

I’m an international student. Will I still be required to submit an English proficiency test?
With many TOEFL exams being cancelled due to COVID-19, we are now accepting Duolingo test scores for admission. Please let your admission counselor, Rohit Dalal, if you have any questions about the application process.

Student Life & Resources

When and how can we buy textbooks?
Once you register for fall classes, you will be able to sign into your My Coe account to find the required book information including ISBNs (International Standard Book Number). Books are available for purchase online only. (The Coe Bookstore does not carry books in the actual store.) Most textbooks are available to rent. In order to rent textbooks, the account holder must be at least 18 years old and provide a valid credit card as collateral in the event the books are not returned. The Coe Bookstore price matches Amazon and Barnes & Noble. If you find a better price on the regular Amazon site (no third parties) or at Barnes & Noble, the bookstore will give you the difference back as a bookstore gift card.
For your convenience, the bookstore offers several ways to pay for textbooks:

  • Credit or debit cards: All major cards are accepted including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
  • Gift card: A bookstore gift card can be purchased in an amount up to $500. The card has no expiration date and can be reloaded at any time.

The bookstore is owned and operated by Follett Higher Education Group, not by Coe College. Because the two have separate accounting systems, students cannot charge the cost of their books to their student tuition account.

Will Coe be open for on-campus classes and living in the fall?
Face-to-face education is a hallmark of Coe College. Although many colleges are contemplating moving online for the fall term, we do not plan to consider such an action unless the virus-related risk grows considerably worse than it is currently projected to be. We fully expect to be open in the fall. All the decisions we make for our current and incoming students will be communicated to you as we know them.

What health care services are available to Coe students?
Coe College Health Services offers a variety of services during appointment and clinic hours on campus. Two of the nation’s top 100 hospitals are within walking distance of Coe’s campus (UnityPoint St. Luke’s and Mercy Cedar Rapids).
